Holiday Drawing – Plant

Original drawing, ink pen on paper, A4, 2025

An original ink drawing made during a hiking trip in Türkiye.

This is one of a series of drawings I made while away, inspired by the plants and vegetation I encountered along the trails. I kept noticing this particular plant as I walked, and became interested in its shape, structure and repeated appearance in the landscape.

Rather than trying to create a precise botanical illustration, I used the drawing to really look at the plant — following its stems, leaves and small details with fine ink lines. In the finished drawing, the plant becomes more prominent and expressive than it appeared in the original landscape.

I love this process of taking something easily overlooked in nature and giving it a stronger presence through drawing.

Comes without a frame; will be shipped in a postal tube or a cardboard envelope.
