Portraits of Artists
In my current series, Portraits of Artists, I focus outward, exploring the practices of fellow artists and revealing the faces behind the work. I usually start with a visit to artists in their studios. During informal conversations, I capture photographically authentic, unposed moments—the small, intimate instances when art truly happens. Later, back in my studio, I select and combine these photographs digitally before translating them into hand-painted sketches on paper. Through this process, I aim to build community while celebrating the personal and human side of artistic creation. But also asking the question: Where does the artist end and the art begin?
Ultimately, my work is about presence—attuning to fleeting expressions, nuanced gestures, and the imperfect beauty of life. Whether capturing moments inwardly or outwardly, I hope my paintings offer a space for reflection, connection, and recognition of art in everyday life.
